»»THE HIGH VIOLETS IN STUDIO // SATELLITE REMIXES TAKES OFF
The High Violets just returned from their successful performance at the Noise Pop festival in San Francisco. They played alongside bands like The Walkmen, Stellastar*, Quasi, A Place To Bury Strangers, among others. The band are now back in the studio recording tracks for their next album with Producer Tony Lash (Elliott Smith, Dandy Warhols). In the meantime, their recent release 'Satellite Remixes' continues to win friends and influence people. The release features songs from both "To Where You Are" and their debut album "44 Down," each of which was given the special remix treatment by Carmen Rizzo (LA), Ulrich Schnauss (UK), BASIC, (Belfast) and Antahkarana Music (Mexico City) among others. Check out Pitchfork's Forkcast to hear/download an MP3 of Ulrich Schnauss' remix of the song "Chinese Letter." »» THE UPSIDEDOWN FINISH THEIR NEW ALBUM AND HIT THE ROAD
The Upsidedown have just finished their new album and are hitting the road. They'll be testing out some of those new tunes during stops at the SXSW Music Festival for about five different shows and at the 1st Annual Psychfest, where they'll play alongside The Black Angels, Spindrift and many psychedelic others. The band are set to release their new yet to be titled album this Summer on a new record label that's still kinda hush hush. Reverb are a little sad, but extremely happy to pass them onto the big leagues and watch them take off into outer-space, right where they belong. Their new album is absolutely amazing too. Honestly, the best album Reverb never released! Stay tuned here for more news on that and more... |
»» BRAND NEW E.P. FROM LAB PARTNERS
The new E.P from Dayton Ohio’s Lab Partners entitled “Keep Quiet” is out NOW. Three of the five songs are taken from their forthcoming album due out later this Fall. If this EP is anything to go by, Lab Partners new album is going to be something pretty special. Their previous album “Wicked Branches” garnered some amazing press with Under the Radar, Skyscraper, Venus, Tablet, Transworld Surf, The Big Takeover and others giving the release an overwhelming thumbs up. The band have been touring hard over the past year sharing stages with Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Kinski, Mark Gardner (ex Ride), Black Angels and The Warlocks among many others. The band were also big hit at this year’s SXSW Music Conference in Austin, playing on the same stage as Dead Meadow, The High Dials and The Black Angels side project Viet Minh. Stay tuned here for more LP news.

»» THE EVER NOMADIC DRAKES HOTEL
Drakes Hotel are an amazing two piece that come to us from Omaha, Seattle, Santa Cruz, Iowa, Baltimore, Denver and for a brief few moments, our very own Portland, Oregon. These wonderful nomads are currently working on their follow up to their wonderful debut album "Tell Me Everything" and the early signs are pretty amazing. The band's musical influences span the atmospheric spectrum and have been compared to everyone from Yeah Yeah Yeahs to Curve to Siouxsie & The Banshees. It’s safe to say that the fuzzy guitars of Chris Y, the beautiful and surreal vocals of Amy Drake fit right in on the Reverb roster. Watch for them soon in a city near you as part of their touring adventures. In the meantime check out our MP3 page for a few free tracks. |
